  • Happy Mothers Day

    Mothers' Day Cake

It's that time of the year again. The MOST important day of the year for us Mummys. In fact we should really declare a Public Holiday in honour of us all. We work so hard, we sacrifice so much for our kiddies, this is our one chance to really soak up a bit of attention and be a princess for a day. And why not. We deserve it. Foot massages, pressies, breakfast in bed, the works. Lets not lift a finger to do one bit of washing, dishes, vacuming…..nothing. Who am I kidding. Most of you Mums will have the washing machine on before you even get that first cup of tea. We can't help ourselves really. The jobs have to be done and we just automatically do them. Perhaps just try to take it easy and enjoy a beautiful, restful day. For once let the jobs go and trust your family to do them. (I know they wont get done the right way but just let it go okay!)

Mothers Day can also be a day of very mixed emotions. For some yearning for a child can bring

Baby on mother's belly right after birth, skin...intense sadness, other women will be remembering a child they may have lost. There are those that remember a Mother they've lost. Some people have difficult relationships with their Mothers so it can be a day of confusion and longing for something better. Both children/adult children and Mothers alike will spend this day reflecting on the family they have. I truly hope for you it is one of joy and blessings. Enjoy your day, stop and smell the roses and be grateful for what you have.

Eileen Mallard – Our first featured Red Hot Member

    Eileen Mallard – Clinical Aromatherapist

As a Clinical Aromatherapist in Melbourne I offer aromatherapy consultations, massage & facials.  I produce a range of accredited cruelty free skincare and personalised products tailored to meet the specific needs of my customers from essential oil blends, to products for specific issues such as dry skin, eczema, arthritis, colds and flu, stress, anxiety and so forth.

I have a great interest in educating people about the therapeutic uses and effects of essential oils -  and I  am particularly interested in the role that essential oils can play in reducing workplace stress and illness.  Stress is a major factor affecting the lives of many people today and  my ‘aromatic workplace’   is a holistic approach to workplace stress and introduces people to essential oils and methods of use.

I also run a series of ‘do it yourself’ aromatherapy skincare workshops, where participants discover why natural skincare is not only better for their skin, but, their health, animals and the environment.    This workshop is the first in a series and is fun and informative.

Being a part of ‘Red Hot Events & Seminars’ allows me to network with other like minded business women and learn from the many events and seminars that are run,  Discover what is on offer in my local area and learn, learn, learn.  I also have a sense of comfort  knowing there are many other women in small business just like me…..   So Thanks for keeping me in the loop

    A Note to say THANKYOU!!

This is just a very quick note to say Hi and ThankYou all for the wonderful support you've given me this year. The Red Hot Community has grown so fast and it's been an absolute privilege getting to know you all and having you in my life.

2011 has been a year of massive personal growth for many of us as we've all cranked it up a notch and really stepped into our Greatness. So many of you have been doing amazing things in business and in life and you have much to celebrate and be proud of.

I know for myself the personal growth I've enjoyed as I've surrounded myself with inspirational, like minded people has been amazing. Some days I sit back and reflect on how far I've come and am truly humbled with gratitude. I know many of you also feel the same.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thankyou for your support and encouragement. I love to hear from you so please shoot me an email or jump on my Facebook page to send me your thoughts.

Thanks also for your patience as I've sent out many a promotional broadcast. Please let me know if this gets too much or how you would like things to be done differently.  For me it's a fine line between being excited and wanting to tell you all of something great without harrassing you with too much information. Bear with me on this and together we can try to achieve the right balance.

I look forward to 2012 and continuing this wonderful journey with you. Thanks again for being a part of The Red Hot Community and for allowing a part of me into your life.

    Kindest Regards

    Sue xxx

I used to have a comfort zone

    where I knew I wouldn't fail.
The same four walls and busywork
    were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.
I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like commission checks and such.

I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.
I couldn't let my life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.
If you're in a comfort zone,
    afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.
Reach for your future with a smile; success is there for you!

Are you a little Discouraged right now?

Wow!! On Friday we had one of our brilliant Mastermind Meetings. I can't begin to tell you how amazing this meeting was. We had a room full of gorgeous people all there with the purpose to connect with one another and learn from our guest speaker Carren Smith. The room was alive with the most amazing energy and everyone left feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for what they got out of this meeting. Carren is incredible! She shared her story of being a victim of the Bali Bombings. What a story!!! Carren's partner had committed suicide which sent her into a pit of despair, blame and intense depression. She decided to go to Bali with her two girlfriends but while there she planned to take her own life. They arrived and went to the Sari club for some fun. In the blink of an eye her life changed forever.

Her two girlfriends were killed instantly and Carren sustained massive head injuries. Her story is one of survival against all odds. She miraculously got herself back to Australia to receive life saving treatment. Her recovery was long and painful but she realised how much she did want to live and that her life was spared for a reason. Carren now teaches thousands of people how they too can find their purpose, passion and present it to the world. She runs workshops to teach them 'The Art of Public Speaking'. These are sell out events and we were privileged enough on Friday to have her speak to us and give us business skills to immediately take our businesses to a place many of us have only ever dreamed of.

We were all so encouraged as we each shared from the heart and realised that we are far from alone. With a group of like minded business people we each have the support to overcome the many obstacles that may come our way. With the right support, knowledge and passion, the sky is the limit. Many of us had had rather discouraging weeks, months or years. Many that entered the room Friday had practically dragged themselves there. However they left with their head held high and a rising belief that they really can and will reach their goals.

I want to thank Carren for giving us this opportunity and for all those that came on Friday for turning my discouragement into a feeling of elation and victory. I know without a doubt that I'm on the right path and it's with the most tremendous joy that I can inspire and help others along the way.

T’was the Night B4 the Event!!

T'was the night before the event. We've worked like crazy promoting it, getting it out to the media, handing out brochures everywhere we've been in the last month, posting it all over the internet, telling people, shouting it from the roof tops and whatever else we could think of to get the word out there. The goodie bags are filled, the rooms all set up, foods ready, bookings are in and now we wait. Tomorrow the day finally arrives when we get to sit back and watch the day unfold.

This series of blog posts have been to show you what strategies we've used to promote this workshop. It's very easy to tell people what to do but to roll up your sleeves and do it yourself is a whole different ball game. That's when the rubber hits the road and you really learn to practice what you preach.

We've got to be honest, there's nothing like having only a few bookings a week or two out from an event. Have any of you experienced that? We're pretty sure it's fairly common for most people to get their bookings in the last few days. It's a huge test of your faith and certainly tests your stress levels as well. For this event we would have liked perhaps twice the numbers we have but we are also extremely happy with what we've got. The women coming are really excited and it's going to be an awesome day. It really has come together nicely.

There are a couple of BIG events on The Sunny Coast this weekend that many women we know are going to plus we have realised a Saturday event for women, especially Mums is very difficult to get to. Most of them have family committments and find it hard to get away for a whole day.

So we've learnt alot and this being our first big event, we have actually pulled it off really well. I'll let you know how it goes. It's going to be a brilliant day. Thanks for coming on this journey with us.

    Media Releases Work!!

    Good news everybody!!

Remember all those media releases we sent out last week? I'm ecstatically excited to say they WORKED!!!!

Today we had an article featured in The Sunshine Coast Daily all about Stacey Currie and her workshop here on The Sunshine Coast next week. They even put in a gorgeous photo of Stacey with the title 'Stacey's Turning Lives Around'. How brilliant is that!!! We couldnt be happier for Stacey and the exposure she is getting from all our efforts.

The purpose of these blog posts is to explain to you the process we've been using to promote this event.

What I really want you to know is just how much work goes into it and how strategic you must be. Writing those media releases was step one. Pressing send on that email is NOT all you're going to have to do to get results. You may need to send them a few times and make however many follow up phone calls as it takes to get a response. Even when the journalist has your story and indicates that they'll print it, there could always be a more newsworthy story that may take precedence over yours.

This is why we are celebrating so much today because getting yourself in the media takes determination, commitment and strategy. So once you get a result, it is a wonderful achievement. We sent 20 releases out, have had one radio interview, one TV journalist contact us and a newspaper article. We still need to keep chasing up the others.

So if you're sending out media releases right now and unsure about the results you're going to get, I hope our story has helped you a little to know that it will happen with the right commitment on your part.

Don't give up or be discouraged. Believe in what you want and go out and get it.

    Teenage Mums

Today I had the privilege of going out to speak to some young mums at Burnside High School.

These girls are not your average young mums. These are teenage girls that are being given the chance to finish their schooling during or after having a baby. For many teenage girls that become Mums, finishing school becomes an impossible task. But thanks to amazing women like Jacquelyn Deane and Janelle Logan from the STEMM program, this has become an achievable goal for these courageous girls.

Some of these girls are having their second baby and many of them have had incredibly difficult lives. This program allows them to bring their babies or toddlers to school where they are cared for in the creche, allowing the young mums to concentrate on their school work. I can quickly see it goes way beyond them learning maths and english though.

The girls are supported emotionally, they learn basic life skills, health care and are surrounded by a nurturing, kind group of leaders and teachers. These extraordinary people are not only empowering and changing the lives of the girls here, but also those of their children.

We are sponsoring some of the girls to come to our Stacey Currie Event – "If you are Powered by Passion, All things are Possible" next week in Maroochydore. We have some incredibly generous business owners that have offered this sponsorship.

Stacey has a similar story to many of the girls here and we believe that we could quite possibly change their life forever as they connect with her and relate to all she's been through.

The challenge for many of these girls however is how to get to a one day workshop. Most of them have a baby or a toddler (or both), minimal or no family support, no car and almost no way of getting out for a Saturday to do something just for them.

Toni and I are truly hoping that some of them can find the way to get to this workshop.

We've got the event, we've got the sponsorship, now we've just got to get them there.

Can you help by sponsoring a ticket for one of these young girls to attend Stacey's Sunshine Coast Event?

    Sue.

    Pounding the Pavement!!

Today I continued on my journey promoting our event with Stacey Currie, which incidentally is 2 weeks today!!! 14 days to be exact!!!

We have 2 weeks to get this event promoted, marketed, organised and have every one of those seats filled by eager women wanting to hear Stacey’s story to inspire them to change their lives forever!!

So today I hit the streets again running. I walked around Sunshine Plaza handing out our beautiful glossy‘ Stacey Currie’ “If you are Powered by Passion, All Things are Possible” brochures, talking to business owners and feeling very excited by the prospect of ALL these people coming to our event.

I can see it now, people lining the street waiting for the doors to open. News cameras trying to get a glimpse of Stacey and us. Cars driving past stopping to see whats going on. And of course, why wouldn’t they?

THIS is going to be the best event ever held, well anywhere! See here’s the thing, I believe it may very well be that and more. But right now, our challenge is to help others believe that too. We are covering so many bases and doing everything we can to market this event.

The real challenge in marketing is to “tell the story” of the event and get across the message of WHY anyone should come along – What’s in it for them and HOW is this event different from any other. That’s why I’m trying to do as much communication about it as I can, to really tell Stacey’s story and help others realise how special she is.

Tomorrow’s Sunday so I’ll be having a break, but will be back with more exciting tales to tell you on Monday. Stay tuned…….

    Sue
